International Pronouns Day | Info Sheet

As a member of the Diversity & Inclusion Board at Dimensional Innovations, I occasionally have the opportunity to do design work to support our monthly or quarterly communications. These projects are always a pleasure, as I can frequently support causes I’m passionate about. Much of our 2021 initiatives are rooted in the idea of “Meet people where they are.” We, as a committee, are heavily focused on education—acknowledging that everyone’s DEAI journeys start at different points.

For the month of October, D&I’s section of the company-wide newsletter focused on pronouns, since the third Wednesday of the month is International Pronouns Day. For many, the proper use of pronouns can be overwhelming or sometimes seem strange, so our goal was to create an easy-to-understand, single-page document explaining a bit of the history behind pronouns and how to incorporate them into daily life, in turn creating a more inclusive, safe space.

With some help from my favorite they-bie and fellow committee member, Ian Spaeth, the following document as an educational resource for the Dimensional Innovations team and beyond:

What is DI’s Diversity & Inclusion about?

Diversity makes DI. Our success as a company is rooted in this team of individuals bringing their unique perspectives, skills and backgrounds to the conversation everyday. Solving our clients’ toughest creative problems means we can’t settle on just being in the room together. It’s on all of us to invite diverse input and consider the voices not in the room who could make the product and experience—for clients and employees—better.
